South Miami Florida Santa’s Parade of the Elves
Sunday was a beautiful, sunny 72 degree South Florida day in downtown South Miami for the annual Santa’s Parade of the Elves. This is just one of the reasons that South Miami is such a good South Florida real estate market. We’re a very local small town and this parade is a favorite for the community. Little children get dressed up as elves and parade somewhat trepidatiously down Sunset Drive as a thousand citizens cheer them on amongst motorcycle policeman in formation, color guards with flags, middle and high school marching bands, the mayor, commissioners and beauty queens perched on vintage Corvettes, antique cars, moms pushing strollers, girl and boy scout troops, girls from the local dancing school, girls from the local baton twirling school, kids from the local gym, dogs, bagpipers, Vietnam vets, floats for South Miami Hospital and merchants, ladies in the Red Hat Society, the Grinch on a motorcycle pulling Mrs. Claus throwing candy to the crowd, cheerleaders from the Miami Marlins, horseback riders from the equestrian club, a platoon of vintage Mustangs, a giant skate from the skating rink, a squad of vintage Volkswagens, Shriners in funny hats, and of course, Santa Claus on the final float. Fun stuff for everyone. My daughter and I really enjoyed the afternoon.

I didn’t know you live in South Miami. Our first Miami house was in South Miami. We had loads of avocado trees in the back yard . . . to the point where the dogs ate them when they fell and got fat every year. The vet used to say, “Can you pick them up?” Um, no. There were that many.
